Target Audience:


Individuals who have at least one year’s experience successfully supporting Windows workstations and users.  Attendees need management approval.


Program Objectives:


To provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to implement, manage, and maintain a complex computing environment based upon Microsoft technology.  Participants who complete this program will cover the necessary prerequisites to sit for all exams included in the MCSA credentials program.


Curriculum:


2274 - Managing a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment

This five-day instructor-led course provides students with the knowledge and skills to manage accounts and resources in a Microsoft Windows Server™ 2003 environment.  These skills include managing user, computer, and group accounts; managing access to network resources; managing printers; managing an organizational unit in a network based on Active Directory® directory service; and implementing Group Policy to manage users and computers.  This is the first core course in the Systems Administrator and Systems Engineer tracks for Windows Server 2003 and serves as the entry point for other courses in the Windows Server 2003 curriculum


2275 - Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment

This three-day course provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively maintain server resources, monitor server performance, and safeguard data on a computer running one of the operating systems in the Microsoft Windows Server™ 2003 family. This is the second core course in the Systems Administrator and Systems Engineer tracks for Windows Server 2003.


2276 - Implementing a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure: Network Hosts

This 2-day course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to configure a Windows-based computer to operate in a Microsoft Windows Server™ 2003 networking infrastructure.  This is the fourth core course in the Systems Administrator and Systems Engineer tracks for Windows Server 2003.


2277 - Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure: Network Services

This five-day instructor-led course provides students with the knowledge and skills to implement, manage, and maintain a Microsoft Windows Server™ 2003 network infrastructure.  These skills include implementing routing; implementing, managing, and maintaining Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Domain Name System (DNS), and Windows Internet Name Service (WINS); securing Internet Protocol (IP) traffic with Internet Protocol security (IPSec) and certificates; implementing a network access infrastructure by configuring the connections for remote access clients; and managing and monitoring network access.  This is the fifth course in the Systems Administrator and Systems Engineer track for Windows Server 2003.


2285 - Installing, Administering, and Configuring Microsoft Windows XP Professional

This two-day instructor-led course provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to manage Microsoft Windows® XP Professional computers in a Microsoft Windows Server™ 2003 environment. Additional information for Windows 2000 is also included explaining how it differs from Windows XP Professional. This is the third core course in the Systems Administrator and Systems Engineer tracks for Windows Server 2003.


Security+™: A CompTIA Certification

This five-day instructor-led course provides students with knowledge and skills required to monitor and maintain system and network security.  In this course students build on knowledge and professional experience with computer hardware, operating systems, and networks.  Participants acquire the specific skills required to implement basic security services including identifying threats, hardening internal systems and internetworking devices, securing network communications, managing PKI and certificates, enforcing security policy, and monitoring security infrastructure.  This course meets the Systems Administrator and Systems Engineer elective requirement.


Class Times:

Evening sessions for the Systems Administrator Program will be run on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 5:45 PM to 9:00 PM. Daytime sessions run consecutive days from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM.


Substitution of Security+ with another class to meet Elective requirements

Participants may substitute another 5-day class for the elective.  The class must be on Training Options’ regular schedule and may not be offered in evening sessions.


Terms and Conditions:


Program Fees: 

The fees for this Systems Administrator program will be $7,200.  This program track must be paid in full prior to program start date. 


Missed Classes:

Participants may make up missed evening classes by attending the appropriate session of the daytime session.


Withdrawal from the Program:

A Participant may withdraw from the program before the 3rd session with a full refund except for a $400 administrative fee.  Withdrawal after this time will result in a charge of all fees for classes taken and 50% forfeiture of the fees for classes not taken.  If the participant enrolls in and completes the session in a subsequent term, credit will be given for all forfeited fees except for the $400 administrative fee.
